What is the difference between SIM and eSIM?

A SIM card is a removable card inserted into a device, while an eSIM is a built-in chip that cannot be removed. To change carriers with a SIM card, you need to physically swap cards, whereas an eSIM can be activated digitally without any swapping. SIM cards are limited to one carrier at a time, but eSIMs can store multiple profiles for different carriers, offering greater flexibility. While SIM cards are commonly found in most phones, eSIMs are increasingly used in newer devices and IoT gadgets, providing more convenience overall.
